Iran short ‘Saad’s Olive Tree’ by Ahmad Zayery is to vie at the competition section of Kazakhstan filmfest.

The short film section of this cinematic event includes works from Australia, Canada, Brazil, China, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Serbia, South Korea, Switzerland, UK and Venezuela.

According to a festival catalog description of the short flick, Saad is a boy who loves football and has big dreams but war changes his life in a flash.

The 2017 flick has so far won the second prize for Best Director and the jury’s special mention for Best Film in the Manchester International Short Film Festival in the UK.

Zayery’s work has also garnered the Audience Choice Award, the Best Dubbing and Best Kid Actor from Irvington Film Festival in the US as well as the Best Screenplay award from Asia Peace Film Festival in Pakistan..  

It was also nominated for the Best Film at Taipei children's film festival 2017 in Taiwan.

The International Cinema Artist Film Festival runs July 10-14, 2018 in Kazakhstan.
